Default fuel pump question

Hi Fellas
Weird thing happened today when I try to start my Disco 97! It started well but the idle is really low and upon leaving the driveway. she just died! I tried re-starting with no luck so I left it parked in front of the house! I suspected that it could be the fuel pump!
Next day came and first thing I did was try to start it up and again with no luck! I decided open the cargo carpet and expose the fuel pump connections! All I did was re insert the connector electrical plug and that started the vehicle! Weird! But I noticed that the idle is a bit too high even though I didn't do any adjustment under the hood!
What could be the problem I am about to face here? Any thoughts?
Thanks

I dont think it is a fuel pump problem.
What is the trucks history?
When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?
How long have you had the truck?

Hi Super Mod
The trucks history is clear...no accidents whatsoever
The fuel pump/fuel filter was replaced 1 year ago!
I've had the truck for over 2 years now!
Lately, I've noticed the improper reading on my gas gauge which gives me the conclusion that the fuel pump might be defective! Sometimes, it reads well but sometimes it does'nt!
Thanks again
Erwin

Where did you get the fuel pump from?

It was from a mechanical shop who replaced my fuel pump and filter! I'm not quite where they got them! It was running fine for months but about 3 months ago, it started to give me a false reading! Even when the gas was half full, it will fluctuate down up to a point where the " almost empty " light will come on! After a pro-long parking ( maybe an hour or two ) upon starting, it will go back up to it's normal reading!
Thanks
Erwin
