Glad to hear it was something easy.
You can never have enough spare parts.

Great... it is always great to find out that a big problem has a small-simple solution.

Glad to see you found the problem. I suppose all is well now and the truck moves. At some point, I would suggest you go to your favorite parts store and buy some good spray to use on all you connection under the hood, water proofing the connections will make sure you have less problems in the future.
As for washing the engine, I have a 99D2 that I wash after every trail run and my engine is clean and never acts up, so othet then the ECU and the Distbutor, I would wash everything under the hood when ever you want.
After you get used to your new truck and want to do some maintance on it, get back to us and let us show you how to get the most out of your truck.

For what its worth. With any and all electrical problems. Always check power and ground first. These two will lead you in the right direction. Glad you found it and now you ahve a backup ecu if you need it. Congrats on the easy fix.

Best advise I have heard yet. My 95 Disco died one day but it took a jump to get it going, then died two more times even with a jump. Turned out to be a bad connection between the battery and fuse box. Battery was fine and so was the alternator.
