Got Engine WET
Glad to see you found the problem. I suppose all is well now and the truck moves. At some point, I would suggest you go to your favorite parts store and buy some good spray to use on all you connection under the hood, water proofing the connections will make sure you have less problems in the future.
As for washing the engine, I have a 99D2 that I wash after every trail run and my engine is clean and never acts up, so othet then the ECU and the Distbutor, I would wash everything under the hood when ever you want.

For what its worth. With any and all electrical problems. Always check power and ground first. These two will lead you in the right direction. Glad you found it and now you ahve a backup ecu if you need it. Congrats on the easy fix.
