Default Got stranded, need help diagnosing lr3

Hi, just yesterday I went for a drive on some trails and all of the sudden I got a air suspension fault which only a few minutes later resulted in the dash lighting up like a Christmas tree. A transmission fault, big F by the gear display, parking light came on etc, and then all the electronics started going crazy. I drove a little further to try to get to a good spot to stop and lost power entirely. Long story short eventually I couldn’t get it started and had to have a friend come tow me out. We thought maybe it was just the battery but its holding charge fine. I had an OBD2 scanner with me and got a U0167 and P0561. So the question is: is just the alternator? No specific alternator codes came up but I don’t know if an OBD2 is good enough anyways, and I don’t recall the battery light coming on before all the electronics went wild. I had dipped the front end in some relatively muddy water( I assumed these vehicles could handle that ) but I wonder if it caused an issue.

Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

I don't know LR3's to well. I do know they are stout for off roading and a little mud isn't gonna kill em like this.

I Would check the wiring at the starter. All main wiring to the alt. Again I don't know these trucks too well but some vehicles have main bus fuses. If you've lost all power you've got something big loose or popped. Shouldn't take too long to find it.

Where are you?

It does start when the battery is charged, and it will drive( or did ) for a minute or two before everything stops. I’m in Alberta, Canada near the rockies

Are you close to Red Deer, I have the IIDTool which can scan LR codes but can only reset them on a locked VIN basis. If all those lights are coming on a good place to start looking is the connector behind and below the battery, check for pin corrosion... just an initial suggestion...

I’m in Calgary, so that won’t work, but I REALLY appreciate the offer. I’ll check that out and see what I find.

A look at this video on YouTube
will show you what you are looking for, the Range Rover Sport and LR3 are nearly identical in this area...

Sounds like a classic alternator fail.

So if the vehicle dies after all of these symptoms, that's an indication of alternator failure? I purchased a new alternator last fall just in case mine fails soon (vehicle has 275K Km on it) but had no idea of the symptoms, other than a no charge indication so that's good to know. I am thinking of pre-emptively changing the alternator around 300K Km if it gets that far without failing...

Good news: it was just the alternator. Not a problem compared to my rear upper control arm replacement haha
