GPS Recommendations
Hmmm. Maybe that's the way to go...seems strange to me but if it works it works.

Its not that strange, really. That's how all mapping software that doesn't require a cell signal to operate works basically. In AlpineQuest you can pick your basemaps and vary the transparency of the layers.
You can try the free version. I make maps for all sorts of things. My wife ran the Milwaukee Marathon so i found a GPX track of the route, saved the area, created waypoints etc. It was great.

No really...the maps thing is awesome. I'm gonna do that. I don't mind paying for a good app. Especially since the device is free.
