Default Hard decision

My name is Tyler, and i am considering getting a used land rover. I am 16 and will be graduating in 2012 and plan on going to a $20,000 collage about 5 hours from were i live.
I want to know seriosly if a 1999 (our around that area) Range Rover would be a good daily driver for a full time collage student. I have fallen in love with the way they look, but I read alot of bad stuff about land rovers. But I want to know from the ppl that own them.
Thanks

I think the main problem would be everyone and their dog would want to go camping and offroading with you in your rig. Great rig for getting to bonfires and what not. If not properly maintained, your normal maintenance will turn into costly repairs. I love mine, and would have loved having it when I was in college. That said, your budget will determine if you can afford the fuel and maintenance that comes with owning one.

if you don't plan on doing maitenance in your dorm parking lot or in front of whatever house you are renting then i would say forget it. you won't be able to afford maitenance from a mechanic and the cost of college. believe me i had to sell my D1 when I was on college...

Buy a $1000 Camry or Accord, drive it until after college and then buy your dream Rover.
Sorry, but as a college kid you wont beable to afford the important things, like pizza and beer let alone Rover gas and repairs.
Read the tech section on the top of the DI page.

Then wait, if you buy one now and you cant drive it because you cant afford it then not only are you giving the brand a bad rap but you will loose interest because the truck that you couldnt afford to upkeep was a "piece of crap"
