Default Have you ever heard of this?

I am wondering if it is possible that the wire for low oil pressure can be associated with pushing down the gas pedal? It seems to me that when I push the gas pedal down to a certain point that the oil light fades in and out. It doesn't illuminate fully, it just barely flickers and stops if I push the pedal farther down or let off on it...

check your oil.

at certain rpms the oil gets moved around. at 0rpm it is stationary, at 4000 rpm it is being moved around. maybe you are low

more rpm = more movement

If the light is coming on, either it's a bad sensor, or your loosing oil pressure. So, either the sensor needs to be replaced (30.00 from DiscountBritishParts.com), you have low oil as mentioned, or your oil pump is taking a dump.... Since the light fades in and out, I'd put my money on low oil...

Thanks for the help.

It's a 97 Discovery. The oil is full so I hope it's not an oil pump...

97 Disco I. I'll take a wild guess that you have an Operation Pride oil pressure switch. It is a huge thing that was locally sourced because the UK could not provide it. Replacing the switch will more than likely rectify the issue.
