Thanks.
Thanks.

95% of all O2 codes on a Disco are because you need a good old fashioned tune up, that means spark plugs and spark plug wires.
Not store brand wires either, Magnecor, STI or Kingsbourne wires only.
Any spark plug you want, the truck came with cheap Champion cooper spark plugs from the factory.

Bank 1 sensor 1. That is going to be the left hand sensor in front of the catalytic converter. Follow the exhaust pipe coming off the left side of the engine (driver's side in the States). Just before it disappears under the firewall, you should see the sensor. See if the sensor wiring connector is covered in oil, disconnect it, and check for the same inside the connector. If oil is found, clean with brake cleaner, apply dielectric grease, reconnect, clear codes, and see if they come back. If the connector is clean, it may be a bad sensor, or a problem with the wiring to the ECM.
I would check the oxygen sensor first, and see if once repaired, the O2 sensor fixes the P0171 lean condition.

IF the sensor connector is oil saturated, it is probably coming from the valve cover gasket on that side. This is a common problem on these vehicles. The valve cover bolts get loose and need to be tightened to specs at every oil change (at least the two outside bolts that are downhill and easy to get to).
The O2 sensors before the converters determine fuel input to the engine. Most likely, until the problem is fixed, your fuel economy will lessen, as the computer doesn't know when to lessen the fuel input.

There is a tab on the connector that needs to be pressed for it to come apart. If the oil is saturating the connector so you can't see what is what, get some brake cleaner, or purple cleaner to clean the oil off so you can find the tab. Then, just press the tab with one finger, and pull the two halves of the connector apart with both hands.
