Default Help please. 95 RRC stuck in Park, Replaced switch and fuse is good?!?!?

Hi All,

Last week, went to head out in my 95 LWB and the beasty wouldn't shift out of park and the brake lights were inoperable.

A friend had the same issue a ways back so I suspected the brake light switch or a fuse.

First thing, checked the fuse panel under the hood and all the fuses there were good, though I suspected that the right fuse wasn't there as the key didn't indicate a brake light fuse.

While I worked on finding the right fuse panel, I went down to JC's and bought a new brake light switch.

I then replaced the switch with a fresh one, with no change.

I then disconnected all three brake lights in case of a short - no change.

I Googled the location of the fuse and a forum post mentioned it was under the passenger seat. I looked and saw a little panel under there with two 30As. Checked them both visually and with a meter and they're good.

I kept searching and found another panel under the driver's seat with six fuses - all good.

So I'm out of ideas. Anyone else have a similar experience (or know of another fuse panel I'm missing?)

Thanks

Oh man I dont have a clue, usually it is the brake light switch.
Have you checked the bulbs to make sure they are good?

Not yet - but worth a try.

Update - looks like I was looking in the wrong place for the fuse all along, (which was the problem). I have two different shop manuals and neither has a diagram of the location of all the panels. It was only after piecing together bits of info, like references to 'facia panel' in the manual and something the mechanic said 'yeah, the 95 classic is more similar to the Discovery than other classics' that I started to get a better idea of where the look - under the steering column, which I gather is where the Disco main panel is.

Funny thing is, I've had this thing for a few years now and only now have found the main panel.

So for anyone who finds this post off a search like "location 1995 range rover fuse panel (for brake light fuse)," there is a drop down panel directly below the steering wheel. There are two plastic slotted screws that need to be turned 90º and the panel will release.

This seems super-basic, but if you don't know it's there, it's not obvious. Thanks DKD and Spike for your help.
