Default Help in San Fransisco area.

Heh Guys….

I live on the East coast so can’t help, but I have a very dear friend who has a much loved 2013 LR4 80k that she managed to blow up by losing oil… anyway that’s another story.
She lives just north of San Fransisco and had a complete new rebuilt (I have the worksheet) engine fitted by an independent company in California.

Since then she’s getting multiple CEL with misfires etc and using coolant.
She just sent me a video of a warm engine on a warm day steaming from the exhaust…. Her very unreliable mechanic thought it had (albeit new..?) head gasket issue and I would concur with evidence shown.

Does anyone know of a GENUINE, RELIABLE & HONEST mechanic who could work on her engine and replace the head gasket.?
The original engine company refunded all her money and sent a complete list of the extensive rebuild details.

Thanks for you advice & help.

ATB Andrew.

That vehicle requires proper diagnostics before you go and start replacing head gaskets (which is a major and costly undertaking on an D4/LR4). Pressure testing the coolant system and inspecting/testing coolant for contamination, compression test and inspection of cylinders, plug reading, investigate engine codes, etc. Additionally, if there is damage elsewhere in the engine it may not be worth investing money into the head gaskets. You could very well have a cracked cylinder head.

I would strongly encourage using an independent Jaguar/Land Rover specialist who knows that particular engine very well.
