Help Transmissin problem gear shifting issue
Discovery II, Driver sits on the wrong side if you live in UK
Year 2001, Patrol, Automatic, V8, basic specs.
The problem: After starting the vehicle, and than shifting the gear to D (drive) the vehicle does not move, can feel the rev drops 1 point but no movement.
To make the vehicle come in motion, put in D, take the rev above 2 for about 10 to 15 seconds, it starts moving without any problems. Every time start vehicle from full off, have to perform same the procedure to make the vehicle transmission work again.
What else noticed?
Some times M & S lights go on when the vehicle get in motion, and the light on D blinks on and off, it also do gear shifting delays. Feels like it stays in gear 2 or three without shifting in time, or on high rev the speed is not as normal.
Asked the local mechanics, their solution is to put a new gearbox or use it as it is till the gearbox is dead. Asked them to change the oil and filter, they say over 90% chances are that the transmission will not work after doing so.
Checked the oil level, that's fine. But do not have service history showing when was the last time gearbox oil and filter was changed.
Thanks.
