Default Hid Wiring?

I just installed HID lights on my 97 Disco. They have a halogen piggy backed to the Xenon tube for the high beam. The lows are great but, the high beam pale in comparison. I noticed on my other car that cam with HID lights that the lows stay on with the high beams.

I re-wired the lights with relays one for the high, one for the lows. That way the factory wiring is only switching the relay and the relays carry the load. Now I'm thinking that I should jumper the high and lows using a capacitor. Can anybody tell me if this work and the capacitor size needed.
High beam is 55 watts. But if am correct the capacitor needs to only carry the switching load.

Thanks in advance

Update, upon further investigation. I believe that I need a diode jumper and a capacitor to hold the circuit closed longer.

What do you think about piggy back Hid systems and will they do damage to factory wiring harnesses even iff they do not blow the fuses??
I've now installed 2 pair on some m3's any comments would be helpfull.
