Question Ignition chip in key?

I have an 01 D2, the key i have for it is starting to break so i ordered 2 new blades for it, i have yet to get the keys cut. does my rover have an ignition chip in the fob? I planned on switching the near broke key for one of the new ones when i get it cut but will the other blade work with no fob? I have a command starter on the vehicle so i don't care about the unlock buttons. Does anyone have an answer for me?
