Hi to all. My first time on forum. I purchased a 2001 freelander with a 2.5, V6 engine, about 2 yaers ago and until recently it has been great, However on a recent interstate trip my wife phoned me to say that the engine appeared to be over heating even though the temp guage was only on half. I called the breakdown service to check it out and they discovered that the cooling system was being contaminated with engine oil. the engine still runs smooth with no missing at all. Has anyone else experienced this or can shed any light on the cause. there is no sign of water in the engine oil. regards kevvy.
