Knock sensor out of range? Help!
Hey guys, I just bought my first LR today it's a 97 Disco w/t a 4.0. The only problems are the code read out was "knock sensor out of range" and it has 170K.
It was an impulse buy so I didn't have time to research it any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

RE: Knock sensor out of range? Help!
Well you have two knock sensors.
You need to find out which one it is.
The left side is just behind the motor mount.
The right is under the motor mount, the harder one.
Due to the sensitivity of the sensors do not apply any tape or sealant to
the sensor threads.
The sensors need to be tighten to 16Nm if you dont torque them to the
right specs they could malfunction or you could damage them.
I dont have my conversion chart now for the 16Nm.
You need to be running 91 or better octane gas, the knock sensors work if
you get low octane or bad gas.
Hope this helps.

Cavss,
You got all the information you need from Landzu's post.
I would also suggest you replace both sensors, due to the mileage on the truck, so you get the best combination of signals for your ECU thus giving your engine the best timing for it's maximum power.
