Land Rover 2024 Defender Outbound 130 mud flaps
I purchased a 2024 Defender Outbound 130 with the Toyo 285/45R22 tires and recently had the dealer install the classic mud flaps. Now the outside of the front tires rub the mud flaps whenever I make a hard turn. The service manager said that I needed to install Johnson Rods to provide a 1.5 inch lift and more clearance but where the tires are rubbing the mud flaps is a couple inches below the centerline of the tires and it seems to me that raising the car body up is just going to make matters worse. Any information on what I am dealing with would be greatly appreciated.
I do not have the classic mudflaps, but I do have the shorter newer style OEM Mudflaps on my 130. I have zero rubbing with the 275 factory tires. I also have 20mm spacers in the front (and 30mm spacers in the rear). So I wonder if that would be a better solution to your problem? If you could post a pic showing where your rubbing is occuring, I'd be happy to recreate the tire/wheel position and snap a pic to see if we learn anything about the effect of spacers and rubbing in that particular area?
I have the classic OEM mudflaps on my D130 and do not experience any rubbing. Your 285/45R22 tires are about 1.2" wider than my 255/65R19. To my knowledge, the front mud flaps are identical across the 90/110/130 with the rears being slightly varied on the 130. I am suspicious that there may be something off with the install. Pictures around the mounting points (especially the bottom bracket) would be helpful to then compare to mine.
