Default Landrover DII Crankshaft Sensor issue

I have read a number of threads around the engine quitting and the majority of answers point to the CPS. My question is I have a 2002 DII and the engine is quitting while out driving, turns over but won't start. Wait for about 20 minutes and then it starts back up. The quitting is very random. Everything points to the CPS however there are no fault codes registering on the OBD2, everything is zero. Has anyone else experienced this with the CPS being the culprit?

The fact that there are no codes almost guarantees its the cps.

Ps, reason being is its just a position sensor. No signal, it doesn't tell the coils to fire. It's either on or off so to say. The fact that its not getting a signal just means its in its off cycle. Nothing wrong, no codes to throw. It just doesn't think its time to fire yet.

Default CPS being Installed as I type

Thank you for the response confirming the fault code being absent. I am having the CPS installed at my trusty import garage, as I type, and will let you know how it goes.

Talking CPS problem

I want to thank all who participate in this forum, the knowledge is tremendous. A special thanks to photcrimes for taking the time to answer my question. CPS installed and LR D2 running like a clock again.

This is a good board. It's the only LR board I frequent. I love the brotherhood of pain here. ;-)

You are way off base on your reply, there is a signal from a Crank Sensor and there are actually 5 codes, starting from 353 and up, for the sensor, they just rarely come on.

Thanks Mike, was just referring to his case and keeping it simple. People are always puzzled why their truck can just die and have no cel. Reason is the computer has no idea anything is wrong.
