Default Limp Mode after Diff Lock Engage

Ok guys, I have a problem...

1999 Land Rover Discovery II
I engaged the diff lock from underneath and no lights came on, so I drove around and tried to see if it was engaged. I made a full circle and revved the engine and something popped. Then red diff lock light came on. The truck wouldn't move forward but it would reverse. I tried to put it back in drive and then revved it and it engaged at about 3000 rpm turning on limp mode. It flashed a code too, P0722.

At this time truck will only move when shifted into reverse or into first gear. It will engage in drive if I rev the engine to a high enough RPM. I was stupid and probably messed up the transmission, please keep those comments to yourself, looking for ideas as to what it might be or what might have happened.

Thanks in advance, guys.

Any number of things could have happened, but most likely is that you buggered something in your transfer case. Perhaps the transmission too. Not really any way to diagnose without pulling the transfer case first and moving on from there.

And you did this on bitumen i assume ? if you are lucky it was just a halfshaft but most like the centre diff in the transfer case just went bang.
