My LR D2 had an attempted break-in. The door cylinder was broken and the key will not turn in the lock (the lock just spins). This apparently has shut down the system and after 3 attempts by AAA to get in (an no my fob did not work) I am still locked out of my car. Had it towed to LR dealership who said they could get in. Turns out they want $1200 to break in and replace my side window. Needless to say towing it home. I'll break it myself for less than that. I'm wondering if I do break the window and disconnect the battery will the system reset itself and let me start the car. What is involved in replacing the key cylinder system on the drivers door. I'm cool to drive around with it unlocked till I can fix it but want to make sure I'm not breaking a window if I still won't be able to get it started or if there is another way. Cannot access battery at present time.

Does your fob not work? If it does and all you're facing is a dead battery, then charge your battery from the (+) post on the starter, and use the engine as a ground (-).
Also, did you super lock your truck before all this happened? If not, you might be able to get in without breaking the window using a wedge and pulling the handle.
Either way, once the door is open, remove the inside panel, then remove the outside handle. Once removed, you'll see the switch that the key engages. Just rotate that switch with a screwdriver towards the unlock position to disarm the alarm and unlock everything, and you should be able to drive it.
Good luck with everything.
