I would be curious to see what your fuel pressure did, while climbing the hills that give you issue. Under those kinds of load is when you need the most fuel. That will really give you a good indication if you have a weak pump or fuel restriction somewhere.

Has anyone thought about the fuel pressure regulator yet?

Spike555- when I checked fuel pressure I pulled the vaccum line from the regulator and the pressure increased. So I assume the regulator is good. I am starting to think weak pump. And my wife drove it today and said it drives ok but now when she goes to stop it stalls but it starts right back up again.

What is the pressure when it stalls? More symptoms = more opportunities to diagnose!

Lr Techniker-
ok here are some readings.
30 psi at idle
34 psi while picking up speed from a stop then drops to 30 psi while speed goes up
30 psi at steady throttle 40 mph, 1750 rpm
drops to 28 psi when slowing to a stop but goes back up to 30 psi when stalls
at idle with fuel pressure regulator vaccum disconnected jumps to 38 psi

Weak fuel pump, with the vacuum disconnected to the fuel PSI regulator the fuel PSI should jump to like 50's.

Spike555- weak pump was what I was starting to think but with the price of some of they parts I did not want to just start r and r things because it could get real expensive. So now I will try to located a decently priced replacement. Thanks for all the input I really appreciate it. And I will post back with out come when I replace the pump.

Make sure you get the correct fuel pump, there were two different ones depending on your EVAP code.

Angry update

ok so i installed new fuel pump esr3926 non-evap system. i am know getting 32psi instead of 30psi at idle and still 38psi with fpr unplugged. And still no cel and truck idle drops down between 500 and 600 rpms. with the occasional stall. truck now seems to have a bit of a dead spot when starting off from a stop. does any body have another direction or idea where to start diagnoses from at this piont?
