Loud Noise from Left Front on LR2
I have taken my 2009 LR2 to the Land Rover dealer twice and they cannot locate the problem and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. The sound is intermittent which makes it very difficult to find. It sounds like a drive shaft hitting the bottom of the car on the front driver's side. My thoughts were the CV joints, or motor mounts or main drive shaft failure. however the dealership checked all components and found no faults. I may drive 100km without it making a noise then when I stop and when I accelerate is when the sounds begins. If I increase speed the sound goes away, if I keep the speed constant it appears that the sound will continue but go away once I speed up. Land Rover told me to drive it until it fails or makes the sound consistently so they can locate the problem. Is there anyone out there that has experienced this noise in the past and if you have could you please tell me what you found out was the problem. Thanks
The sound which sounds like a drive shaft hitting the bottom of the car, the tempo of the sound does increase with acceleration. What is frustrating is that it comes and goes. The Land Rover Dealership check the PV joints, Drive Shaft, Wheel Bearings and found nothing. They did find a Strut that needed to be replaced and I replaced both struts on the front. thanks for responding to my thread.
