LR2 Shifting

LR2 Shifting
I've noticed in my new 2010 LR2, that it seems to shift differently from cars I've driven.
Say you are driving down a hill on the interstate and you take your foot off the accelerator. Normally a car would shift to a higher gear with less resistance/lower RPMs, and you would start to accelerate while coasting down the hill.
My LR2 will stay in that same gear, which slows the car a little bit. After 5 seconds or so it will then shift to a gear of less resistance and I will then gain some speed.
2 things...is this normal or anything I should be worried about? What controls when the shift takes place? Is the engine intentionally doing the braking for me?
Thanks
Kevin
