Default LR3 Downstream O2 Sensor Stuck Half Way Out

Hey everyone,

I'm attempting to replace the Bank 2 passenger-side sensor but ran into a strange problem. I was able to break the sensor loose--by applying a liberal amount of liquid wrench--and wind it out about three thread lengths (I can see the threads) but the sensor won't move past that point. The sensor turns somewhat easily at this point but I can seem to get it beyond the final thread or two.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Today, I'm contemplating running the car, letting the metal expand and cranking on it again.

Jason

EDIT: Additional details: My LR3 is a 2005 4.4l with 175K miles.

Hit it with some more Liquid wrench and run it in till its tight and run it back out. Work it like that a few time and see if that will clear out the junk in the threds.

I don't think there is gunk in the threads.

I've only had it happen on cats that I removed from parts cars.

I would remove the offending cat pipe assembly and send to a muffler shop to weld in a new bung.
