To all who know exactly what I'm experiencing because you've been dealing with it yourself, you've come to the right post! After trying a new battery, crankshaft sensor and otherwise dealing with this issue for 1-2 months, it ended up being the (coolant temperature sensor). This damn sensor was making me rack my brain for too long. Not to mention just the annoyance of it all! So, here's what you do if you get similair faults. The sensor itself is located under the throttle body aluminum housing. disconnect the black air path between the mass air flow sensor (maf) and the throttle housing. There will be a few electrical connections that you'll have to undo. Once thats off, remove 4 bolts to take the housing off and just lean it out of the way, because it'll still be connected by some coolant lines. Don't mess with them. The sensor is underneath that. disconnect the electric plug to the sensor. Now, here's where someone with more knowledge might help, but theres a cotter key that you'll lift up and remove that holds the sensor in place. You could try and remove the overflow cap in hopes that will take some pressure off. put a catch pan or bucket underneath, get the new sensor ready.... As you wiggle the old out some radiator fluid will spray a little. quickly press the new sensor in the hole and apply enough pressure so that you can re-insert that cotter key. i shop-vac'd any residual antifreeze and then connected the electric plug. put everything back together and your done brother! lr3 engine coolant sensor $26. Getting your car back in working order PRICELESS!!! GOOD LUCK...
