Default LR5 Discovery 2018 - manual Neutral gear reset - urgent

Hello,

Car wouldn’t start, and I had to open the hood and use the manual lever to get my car into Neutral to move it 20 feet.

Now the car is starting, but is stuck in Neutral.

I cannot get the engine block Neutral lever back into its original position. It’s stuck in Neutral.

Anyone know how to get the engine block Neutral lever back into its original position?

Thank you!

So the level will not move back? Did you deflect the catch so it can move?

Thanks, I have been trying to, but no luck. How do you deflect it? Sorry for sounding dumb.

Just gently bend it out with a flat screwdriver or such. You can see in the pic where it is catching.

You really saved my bacon today, thank you, thank you!

I was afraid I was going to break something since the deflection took some force and I broke a pen doing so.

How is this not in the owner’s manual? And so many Discos have different manual neutral levers, it’s confusing.

Very much appreciated!!

I think the difference in levers is manual versus automatic transmissions? Just a guess as I know nothing of the Disco 5.

So now that my Disco 5 is running, I have warnings “AEB not working, no blind spot, no collision avoidance” and other safety systems.

All because I put the vehicle into manual Neutral?

Not sure on that. But often with Rovers a quick "fix" is to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to clear codes and such. You may have two batteries, a start/stop? I am not sure. Might want to start a new thread in the Disco 5 section.
