Default luggage rack problem

I have a 2005 LR3 SE. I purchased factory LR racks from a guy who also had an LR3. It is a factory part # CAP500020. I tried them on my car today and they are about an inch too short to make it into the factory installed track on my roof. I've done some research on the net and these bars should fit. What is up??
I bought them several months ago and should have tried them on. I've just never needed them until now.
Help!

Is this the case for both bars? Maybe one goes to the front and one on the back, meaning are they different lengths?

Hi Abran, They are both the exact same length and there is only one place along the roof track to insert the "foot" of the bar. They you'd slide the bar forward or back along the track. Thanks for the thought though.

I shouldn't mention Freelander in the same post as your rover... But I had a set of crossbars off a Freelander and one was longer than the other, that's why I asked.

Good luck.
