We're the original owners of a 2001 Disco 2 SD (North American). Good, solid, reliable vehicle with 200,000 miles and no major problems so far. It has never been in an accident or flood, and has received regular by the book maintenance.
Odd problem with the RH (passenger side) door locks. LOCKING THE DOOR: The rear RH door lock doesn't lock with the remote on the first click. Door stays open, and the tab stays up. Press again for superlock -- tab drops and the door locks. Does not lock from the CDL switch on the instrument panel (tabs stays up and door stays unlocked). UNLOCKING THE DOOR: Won't unlock with the CDL switch on the instrument panel -- tab stays down and door stays locked. Ditto for the remote on the key. The only way to unlock is from the inside by pulling the door handle. That began about 4 weeks ago. Suspected it was an actuator, and didn't do anything about it immediately because it wasn't all that much of a problem. Now the RH (passenger) FRONT door lock has the same symptoms -- and that IS a problem. Seems unlikely that two actuators have developed the same personality problems at more-or-less the same time. Anyone have any similar experience/thoughts/suggestions to share?
Great forum. I've enjoyed lurking here in the past, and only now have a problem worth mentioning.
Thnx,
mtidmore

I have a 96 Disco that I replaced with these actuators. They work great. I don't know if they will work in yours. Disko Mike might be able to tell you.

ORIGINAL: Disco Mike
You don't need to replace your remote just because you have a couple of locks that don't work. it is not the remote but most likely bad lock actuators that are failing.
