Default auto door locks not working on 95 disco

the automatic door locking system seems to be on the fritz on my 95 disco. when i turn the key in the door, it supposed to lock all the doors at once. Sometimes this works but most of the time it does not. I was thinking this may be a loose fuse or a relay problem. Can anyone offer any help on this matter? Thanks fellas

Is that a Land Rover feature or does that come from an aftermarket alarm, i kno DEI does that and if that's the case you need to bring it to an auto shop that installs DEI products or if you feel qualified, do the work your self

I think you need to replace the little locking solenoid (for lack of a better term) in the driver's door. There are extra connections on this little black devise that drives the locks for the other doors.

Did you fix your problem?

I am on the same boat. I don't have a remote but... First, the alarm will go off by itself off & on for no apparent reason. Second, a few weeks later sometimes it will not arm and the central locking system would not work off & on and last, again weeks later, it just quit working (both the alarm and the cenral locking system.)
Before it quit working for good, I had a starter problem. The same day I replaced the starter, I replaced my head unit and that same day is when the alarm/central locking system quit working.

Any suggestions?

I think my problem is a loose ground - but I have not found where it is yet. It wasn't working for a week or two and then I took it for a serious off road session and the doors unlocked perfectly for two weeks after that. I think it was feeling neglected and too clean. I wish I could offer you a solution, if you find anything out please let me know. thanks

Usually the main reason for this to happen is one of the lock actuators is starting to hang up or fail. Have you ever noticed one of the door lock buttons start to go down when being locked and then pop back up? There is were you will find your problem, sometimes cleaning, lube and maybe a little adjustment will correct the problem.
For the other truck that had the alarm act up, that is also common in Rovers and is usually the hood switch that gets bounced out of position/adjustment and while driving down the road it will go off.

Disco Mike, the alarm will not go off while driving. It used to do that while parked... including at 1-2 or 3 am!!

The hood switch was suggested to me previously. Unless I have mistaken this swhitch, it seems to be working well. I unmounted it, cleaned it and, with help of a friend, I ruled it out. He pressed on it by hand while I locked/unlocked the doors.

I am under the impressiong that the alarm is on some kind of self tuned off mode... it has not work or locked/unlocked the doors for over 8 months.

This weekend I am going to open the driver side door and play with the sensor there. Any insight?

Is there a way to test the alarm module...? with a voltimeter that is...

jmerril, I will let you know with any changes... I will work on it again this comming weekend. I am tired of having to lock with the key and to having to reach to the passenger door from the driver side to lock it... it is a pain!

You know, I have always been luckey when it comes to my alarm. Had to reset it once and adjust the hood switch once, other then that, I have no experience or great words of wisdom for this.
A thought, the only sure fire test is with a test book thru your OBD2, where it can be tested, reset and I believe turned on and off.
