Default Need help disco won't crank

Hoping someone can help me. My wife parked my 04 disco and wouldn't turn over recently. New battery, fuses check out and will not so much as click. No codes thrown, wondering if transmission lock out is defective. Tried it in N and even in drive nothing! Was going to try and jump solenoid but not easy to get at. And help would be greatly appreciated.

Any lights on the dash?

What was the initial symptom?

Was the car running and driving fine before?

Shooting off the hip sounds like a ground issue.

I would check that the large wire going to the starter was 12V which you can do at the under hood fuse block. And then while someone cranks check the voltage on the smaller wire (signal) that goes to the starter is getting voltage.

Thanks for the advice . After trying everything from locking via the fob and unlocking with key, to all fuses and connections I finally got to the starter (where I should have started to begin with) and yanked on the cables and wires and apparently found the problem because It cranked right up. The truck is a rust bucket so should have suspected a ground or wire issue. I ordered a new starter to be safe. Thanks

Well if the starter is still working with a jiggle you are looking at a wiring issue most likely the starter 12v (big one). Loosen and wire brush each connection (dont forget teh ground strap behind the driver side head and retest. I have seen a couple that just had corrosion at the attachment point to the engine on the ground strap but it you jiggled on the starter and it is probably that the starter solenoid has come loose internally and it only making contact partially. Once it makes contact partially it builds up a layer of crap and then wont restart. I bet if you just cleaned the connections it would be fine and also use a little battery terminal spray (red stuff) to help "seal" the connections.

Also, I have seen the starter wire where it runs up the coolant pipe on the passenger side of the engine come loose and fall onto the exhaust manifold that causes all sorts of problems.
