Default Need Info

Hello All - General question. Considering the purchase of a 95 LWB with just over 100,000 miles. Can you folks give me an idea of how expensive it is to maintain this vehicle type (i.e. are replacement parts expensive, or hard to find)? And any info regarding general upkeep or possible things to "watch out" for would be appriciated. Figure if i can get another 75-100k miles out of it, it will be worth the money.

If you had to change a water pump, would you do it yourself or take it to a shop?

A '95 Classic is a good candidate for extensive aftermarket upgrades. Do you plan on any of those or on keeping it stock?

If you do maintenance and basic parts replacement yourself and keep it mostly stock, it could be an inexpensive vehicle but not as cheap as a later model Honda Civic for example which will require quite a bit less TCO. If you use someone else to maintain and repair it, the cost in dollars can go up quite a bit depending on your local shop's rates for parts and labor. Modifying it can also be expensive but that should be intuitive.

Nevada Ben thanks. Any and all repairs would be done by my mechanic. If i purchase the vehicle i plan on keeping it stock. Was just trying to get a handle on any continual problems had by other owners after this model has hit a certain milage.

All vehicles after a certain mileage have needed and continual increase in repairs. It is part of life. With proper maintenance, any vehicle will last well past it's expected useful service life.

If you are going to have the work done by a shop do not buy this truck, you will go broke.
These things are cheap to keep on the road IF you do the work yourself, they are going to charge you "book hours" to fix things and the book gives more time than what most things take.
And most shops do not let you bring in your own parts, they buy from their supplier or the dealer, both will have inflated parts prices plus the parts markup from the shop.
So you are going to be paying no less than twice the actual cost of the part PLUS labor to have the work done.
Buy something else.
