Need Some Help,
I am new here so if this question has already been answered I am sorry, but I will get with the program down the road. I am at this time installing new brakes on my 1997 Land Rover Discovery. I ran into a problem back a few months ago when I went to use the brakes and found that I didn't have any, had to use the hand brake to stop me.
After I had gotten it home and tried to figure out what the problem was I found that my back brakes were very badly worn, almost like they were not working for a long time, so I took it upon myself to start to prepare for replacing all the parts in the rear brakes? I contacted a local repair shop and they asked me to bring my Rover in for an inspection, when I did I found out that my master cylinder was bad, and it would need to be replaced, and that was why my back breaks were not working properly. I asked for an est. of how much it would cost to repair my brakes and when they gave me the cost, I about came unglued, they wanted $1,300.00 to just change the rear calipers rotors and master, with that in mind I decided to do the repair myself.
It took me a few weeks to track down the parts without having to pay double for them, and now my Rover is sitting up on stands and I started in the back to take it apart. I found out that everything was going smoothly until I had to remove the lock nut off the stub axle, and I don’t know what size socket I need for this.
I was hoping that someone could tell me what tools I need for this job, I need to know what size socket I need to remove that lock nut, and also if I need any other tools before I get too far into this job. If anyone has any information please let me know as soon as humanly possible.
Thanks for all replies.
