Newbie question.
It's going to be -11 in Quebec tomorrow and I have no heat in my workshop so, no, I won't be attempting this. If the temperature was more accommodating, I might give it a whirl.
I'm really hoping that between the new rad and thermostat, I get heat back in the passenger cabin. Will let you know how it goes.

If having your local indy radiator shop do it, they can flush and test radiator before starting on truck. If you had heat in the shop, the fuel bill would probably equal the labor for mechanic....
Update: swapped out the rad for a 2000 Disco 2 and replaced the thermostat at the same time and the blower is pumping out lots of hot air. Good thing as 2 inches of snow fell overnight and more to come this evening.
My transfer case temp warning light, which was on steady before (having my rad and thermostat changed) is now mysteriously out. It's the red one that looks like there's a thermometer in the middle... it sits above the fuel gauge. Should I be concerned?
Three amigos are still waiting to be dealt with.

The light you reference is driven by tranny oil temp sensor and transfer case temp sensor. Your work unplugged or disturbed the tranny oil switch most likely. And since you say it was on to start with, not on at startup for 3 seconds, then back on later when warmed up; we shall suspect that the sensor is bad. Can be metered, or can be plugged back in.
Concerned? Yes, because it is nice to have the idiot light working in case some thing happens. Drivable? Yes.

Ok, this is a little confusing. My old rad didn't have the plug in the RAVE diagram you referenced. Looking around that area of the engine, I don't see any dangling plug that's looking for it's female mate. My new rad DOES have that female connection, but again, I can't see the plug that is supposed to go into it. Is it possible that a previous owner would have removed that plug?
Is it possible that the new rad, which is working correctly and efficiently now,is satisfying some other sensor..... I'm at a loss.

See attached pages from RAVE.
Sensor is on bottom corner for small radiator in front of one you changed.
Sensor could have been shorted, if light came on as soon as you started the truck. Short could have been bumped loose by recent work.
If truck used to crank, run for a few minutes, and then light came on, tranny was being overheated. New radiator may have improved air flow and stopped that.
IMHO you would want to located sensor and connector, unplug, and short with paper clip toward vehicle (not toward radiator) to make light come on and be sure you hook it back up.

Thanks again SB. I'll have a look at this now.
My warning light would always come on straight away, even when the tranny was stone cold so I'm hoping it is just a faulty or loose sensor.

A hose has sprung a leak on my 99 Disco 2. It sits on the passenger side behind the rear tire. Doesn't seem to be connected to the brakes. It is leaking an amber coloured fluid.
Also, I have a 99' Disco 2, does my truck have a fancy air suspension or is it just springs and shocks?
Looking for help!!

After further investigation, I am pretty sure it is the ACE system which is leaking. Is this feature important for non off-road use? I am sad to say that I do not do any off road stuff with my truck it's just for going skiing, pulling a small runabout boat and driving paved roads.
I am a very conservative driver who stays well within the speed limit. If I am cornering safely, am I ok without the ACE?
I've heard some crazy stories about the hose being installed before the body was attached to the chassis.... it's a bitch to change.
I would really appreciate any advise from you experts out there.
Thanks,
PI

OK, you are going to have to get a lot more specific as to the location of the leak, if you can, take a picture and post it.
The ACE is mainly for on road driving and as a $1700 options, you really want to fix it cause it makes a huge difference in how your truck handle over a truck with out ACE.
