Default Non winch ARB bumper.

I got a ARB bumper that doesn't have a whole for the fair lead. Is there a difference in structure or strength compared to the model with the winch provisions? I know ARB wasn't my first choice but it was free (almost) . Can I just cut a hole for the lead?

I found the answer on the IH8MUD forum I used to belong to with my FJ80. Those guys simply reinforce the front with 3/8 plate. Mount the winch there. Then cut a hole for the fairlead.

Your bumper has no hole in the middle and no holes for fog lights... it MUST be stronger.

I like it.

Is that a Disco I?

This is a major problem for you. I would recommend that you remove the bumper and ship it to me at no charge. I will dispose of it properly by putting it on my car.

I just put fogs up high. Well, really I don't know if those can be called fogs because they are so bright they blind me and everyone else. I hate them.

Note how low the winch tray is... it is still in a bad spot for my license plate.

So you mounted the winch below the bumper?

It is in the tray... the tray is just low... but not low enough to make room for a US license plate.

I used a harbor freight 12500 pound one and it fits perfectly.

I have the same winch. How does it work for you? Did you use rope or cable? That thing is freaking heavy. I was thinking of switching to rope to lighten it up a bit. I've never used rope before.

I have only used it a couple of time sand it worked fine, but the metal cable is crazy heavy. A guy found me an 85 foot nylon rope but you have to change the fairlead for rope because the metal rollers will fray it. Ugh. I replaced my ball joints yesterday and today and am just not into it right now.

But rope is the way to go, for sure. WAY TOO HEAVY as is. Makes my front sag with MD springs.
