Default Not all rear seats fold up?

A general question I have been having and haven't been able to find much official information on it online is why some models of the Disco II don't allow the driver side 3rd row seat to fold all the way up?

I noticed on some both jumper seats fold all the way up and to the side and on others only the passenger side seat folds all the up and the driver side one sticks out. I think I would find this annoying

Is it certain trims that do that? Or years?

Thanks!

Do you mean that the passenger side seat folds up into a recess in the sidewall while on the driver's side the sidewall is narrower so it doesn't have the recess? Or that one seat doesn't seem to fold up at all?

I think he is referring to the rear AC equipped version where the drivers side does not sit in the recess as there is no recess due to the AC on that side.

Yeah, mine has that. That's what I was trying to describe. I just remove the seats when I don't need them. Four bolts; ten minutes to remove and fifteen minutes to reinstall.

okay so yeah, that's what I meant, the driver side recess is shallower and thus the seat doesn't tuck away completely...

so it's just on the models with rear ac? Which are those? It seems I've seen some with the rear ac controls but that do tuck all the way in...

Someone (like abran) who has disassembled a few is more likely to be able to answer that. I didn't even realise that the rear air might be the reason why one sidewall is fatter than the other. Truth be told, I haven't even paid any attention to the ducting in the roof -- I thought the air there came from the same air system as the main climate controls.

I will say that the mounts that the latches hook onto when the seats are folded up seem to be really poorly designed. Both of mine are broken off completely, and replacement looks like you need an entire interior panel. I just use a couple of bungie cords to hold the seats up when they're installed but not in use.

if it has rear AC, then the seat does not stow away completely.

Just realize that rear AC means vents in the cargo area. Controls in the second row does not mean rear AC.
