Default Off road tires for RR Spor HSE 2009

Hi,

I have a 2009 HSE Range Rover Sport. Wheels are 255/50ZR19.

I want to take it into the desert at Big Bend National Park. Last time I went I cut a sidewall and had a long trip on the spare to San Antonio.

I was looking at a tread pattern such as the General Grabber AT.

Can any of you suggest;

What tire?
Should I get new rims and tires of a different size?

Any comments appreciated.

Cheers

I run an RRS 2009 3.0 TDV6 HSE which is more or less the same truck. IMO if I were take the truck into sand and rock desert regularly I'd run 16" or 17" wheels with the widest AT tires available, typically 255, and run at low pressures between 15-18 psi. The other guys on here may have other inputs to this.
