I think it is for the backlight when the headlights are on. I haven't followed the instructions to wire them up yet but I am planning on doing it this weekend weather permitting.

makes sense...and I have a guinea switch, so I will run a hot to 2 and let you know what explodes...

that is correct. it is backlighting...so ignition hot. thank you..

I'm a little late to the party here, but the RAVE has pin out diagrams for all the switches. I helped when wiring my winch controls to my Volume Up/Down buttons.

Worked perfectly!!!
The pin out on the stock Fog or Cruise switch might be different from the Volume Up/Down buttons though.
