oil change interval
Hi everyone
Range Rover HSE 2001- it is used less than 100 mile/year; start the motor about once/week about 15 min. to keep the battery active.
How often should I change the oil?
Thanks

100 miles/year: Change the oil to a full synthetic something like Mobil One and no worries. I would also add a fuel treatment like K100G (NOT D) from NAPA, Advance, or Amazon. If you have the option of getting a battery charger get a CTEK MUS 4.3 > works like a champ.
AND PLEASE GET OUT AND DRIVE THIS THING!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you OverRover for all the advice.
I assume it IS full synthetic because last time I've change it costed me $500...(Mister Lube); I have a battery charger but you are right- I should get a new one.
Regarding driving this thing you are right again- is just the way things are...I think I destroy the car by keeping it unused; I should sell it but I don't think it holds much value at this point.

If you own a Land Rover you need to learn to change the oil at least.
Thank you as well, DavC
Now- that's what a Rover gets when is inherited by a widow; low mileage, low maintenance, overpriced service.
I know I have been fried with the oil change (didn't have much options at the time) and that's why I am reluctant to change it again anytime soon; I go to a shop and they see a woman- they will scrape my skin off.
To learn to change my oil (at least...)-maybeee...; not feeling very inclined though.
This car is by far not what I need but it is what I have (used to drive something else until I came back home with a taxi) and I figured that by the time I sell it and buy something else I will lose so much money- I would rather wait until the gov. makes cars running on gas illegal and dispose it; I work from home, I save money on gas, I keep the car in the garage at all times, I wash it once a year (consequently I avoid driving in bad weather so I don't get too dirty...).
Had no blinking at the board so far so never went for service in 3 years. Keep my fingers crossed meanwhile. If IT doesn't scream at me- I pretend to ignore it's existence (I don't like driving much either and where I live I only have to go 3km. for food shopping once/mo. in the summer, once/2mo. in the winter). No family, no social life. Me, my (small)dog and my Rover...
I will look in the forum how to change the oil and see if it's doable (last year I had a thread on the forum when I accidentally locked the motor by using the remote to lock and key to unlock....had no idea it does that; somebody nice (a member) saved my *** because I don't have the unlocking code)
Thanks to this forum once again.

I see.
I wish you best of luck. If you're careful it should be OK. Best advice I can give someone in your situation is just check the car once in a while that water hasn't leaked in, before you drive it check that it has enough coolant, and enough oil. Synthetic oil should be stable for a while and not cause issues. Keep an eye too on any dry rot in the tires, and you may want to place a few mouse or rat traps around the car as rodents love to chew wires and this is especially true on something that is not driven often. If not driven for more than a month or two, add a little fuel stabilizer to the gas, since you won't be filling it up very often if not driven much.
