I have a V8 Disco One that was new in 1997 however it has developed an overheating problem that I cannot determine what will fix it. I can drive just about 7 miles before it overheats and cannot be driven any further.
The thermostat was recently changed but it did not fix the problem.
I am thinking it could be the water pump but I am not 100%
Can someone please review the Ultragauge data and offer their help
The data presented are pretty typical. Nothing jumps out. There are a multitude of overheating threads on this site. Troubleshooting is not hard but can lead in many different directions.
The very first question to ask is whether or not you are losing coolant. Does the level in the overflow tank fall? Do you need to put in new coolant/water frequently (more than once a month)?
If so, go directly to head gaskets or, less likely, a cracked block.
Other than that it could be anything from a overflow reservoir cap not holding pressure, to a water pump, to a bad rad, to a shot fan clutch.
Let's get the answer to the coolant consumption question first.
By the way, put the year of your truck in your signature (hit the 'User CP' on the first orange line below the ad at the top of the page). You have a D1 so it is best to post in the D1 section of the site.
