plastic ramps

Default plastic ramps

Anyone used the platic ramps from Harbor freight? The supposedly support 16k lbs.

....or a suggestion for better alternative?

I have some that are rated for 12K from parts store, like any ramp they work well but sink into soft ground. Not all of us have paved driveways . None at my house since 1842 when it was built. Piece of plywood solves that. Tarp on ground catches odd pieces dropped and blocks off most of the fire ants. Putting both ramps on passenger side makes oil drain better.

I prefer steel keeping a 5,000lb brick from crushing my skull.
I've had my steel ramps for 20yrs, 6,000lb rating.
I dont leave them outside where they will rust.

Speaking of bricks, don't user "cinder blocks". They fail quickly and at a lot lower force than you might think, based on the concrete mixed that day.

Yeah, Im taking them back. The tires are almost too wide for them. I left the disco up all day on the ramps while i was out to see how theyd hold up. Just took them out from under and the internal spring for the built in tire saftey chock is crushed. Other than the size problem they are pretty sturdy and really light... great for moving around but not sure a quality I want ramps to have.

I have had my heavy duty plastic truck ramps for 12 yrs now, work well.

I have 2 set of those from HF the one with the removable ramps they work great.
if you dont have running boards they are just low enough to fit under the back wheels, so you put one set under the front and the other under the rear and drive up
raising all four corners at the same time.

I have four of the Gorilla ramps, or whatever they're called, from PepBoys. They work great. Use them for my van and truck. Though my truck is almost too tall when its on the ramps. Putting a single ramp at opposite corners is a great way to check your suspension travel and rubbing too.
