please help with this noise
I have a new to me 1999 Disco II, bought from original owner, everything is perfect....except for this noise.
It sounds as if there is a thin gauge chain dropped underneath the truck that jingles periodically is the best way to describe it. Sometimes it happens over bumps in the road, sometimes not. I can't find anything specific to repeat it everytime
I've spent a lot of time under the truck pulling and pushing on everything to no avail. I have taken it to two different shops to no avail.
The only thing that is really standing out at this point is all of the lug nut covers are loose.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

So there is one grease fitting on the engine end of the front drive shaft and another on the joint to the front differential.
There are no grease fittings on the transfer case side u joint where the drive shaft connects. Mine looks exactly like the pic below....minus the twisting. No grease fittings on the end with the circle, but it does have the two with the arrows. The joints do not look worn or rusted, but I'm assuming that will end up being a big problem. Yes, I'm confirming that's the ujoint everyone speaks of replacing, I've done a lot of engine work but not a lot of drive work at all.
Anyone have a link to buy the greasable u joints...or somewhere here in Denver to pick them up.
Thanks.
