Default Question about Fuel Pump

I think my fuel pump is getting weak! Its hard to start in the morning and after a few minutes of driving and even though it runs smoot, upon turning the ignition off and when start up again, the gas won't go right back up and the idle starts to choke! My question is, where is the fuel pump on a 97 Discovery located at and is it hard to replace it? Thanks in advance!

Pump is in the tank, under the carpet in the cargo area.
When did you last change your fuel filter, have you actually check the fuel pressure at the rail before doing a cold start?

Thanks Mike, I never thought about the fuel filter! That's probably what was causing the choking! I will let you know as soon as I replace it since it has been a while as well!

It is most likely going to br thr pressure relief valve on the pump if the filter doesn't correct it.

I have changed the fuel pump and the fuel filter, the fuel lines and injectors had been cleaned! I had the distributor wires and spark plugs replaced a few months ago! BUT when I start the car ( doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold ), I had to do it 3 times! First was like a revving, next is like the gas is trying to get to the engine and finally, it starts and runs smoothly again! But same thing will happen as soon as I turn off the engine and start again! Pls advise if you guys have experience this kind of problem!
Thanks

Default My Rover Classic doing the same thing until it stopped dead

Of course it died in the middle of a beach of deep sand. Finally got it off the sand and onto pavement so that I could get it towed home.

The 94 range rover lwb had been having sporadic incidents of sputtering like it was starving for fuel. The episodes would last for a minute or so then go on like nothing was wrong for a few days. I changed the fuel filter and fuel pump (105K miles seemed like it was worth a shot).

When it died it was like it ran out of gas even though it had a full tank.

Any ideas?

I guess I should add that the fuel pump seems to be running fine. I was thinking maybe the relays, but I do know if I am going in the right direction, or if there is something else I should check.
