Did you try resetting the inertia switch? That's when fuel pump gets cut off during a collition and will totally disable the pump! Same as if you replace the fuel pump, this switch needs to be re-set!

reset inertia switch. installed new relays. checked fuses. fuel pump kicks in for a few seconds when the key is turned. engine still turns over but does not start. still acting like it is not getting fuel. spark plugs and wires are about 1 year old (less than 5,000 miles).

this has me stumped. any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as the nearest rover shop is a 5 hour tow.

thanks.

Finally got some time to work on the old rover. Turns out that the fuel pump does not kick in when the key is turned. If I hot wire the fuel pump it pumps, otherwise it does not do anything.

I have installed new relays, checked all of the fuses. Inertia switch is set. Still not running.
Any ideas on what I should be checking next?

I too am having the exact same problem, thats why I'm on the forum. I would appriciate it if you could submit your answer to the forum because I've done the exact same thing, jumped
the pump but no fuel pressure. Prior to this problem it ran fine. THANK YOU
