Default Radiator Hoses

My upper radiator hose blew the other day, fortunately it must have been when I was pulling into my driveway. I looked over my options online and ended up ordering just a replacement upper hose because I could not afford the complete set. Once I have the money should I replace the remaining hoses under the assumption that if the upper hose was weak enough to rupture that the others may not be far behind? I have a 1999 Range Rover 4.6 with 90,000 miles on it. Thank you.

now that the upper hose is good and strong it will put more preasure on the others.
You couldnt possibly be riding around with 10 year old hoses are you? A complete hose set is under $200 at BA, which is considerably less that what it will cost you if you over heat that engine.

Honestly, I'm unsure how old the hoses are. I've only had the vehicle for approximately a month now and I am slowly chipping away at all the recommended service items. I'm not adverse to replacing the other hoses, I was just curious how much of a priority it should be once I have the funds to do so. Thank you.

The lower hoses on some Rovers have multiple ports (my Disco is a 4 opening item). This sort of thing is rarely in stock other than a Rover dealer, so it is handy to have a spare in the truck if traveling. The spare can be an old one that had some life left on it, or one picked up at the salvage yard while hunting for alternators, etc. The salvage yard hoses are dry-rotting at the same rate if they are in the junk yard or in your driveway. Frequently salvage yards slice the hose to remove antifreeze.

RockAuto Auto Parts has cheap radiator hoses, I bought a complete set for a truck I bought to fix up and sell for $50.

Great, thanks for the help gentlemen. I read somewhere that the cooling system hoses were subject to a recall several years ago and that a complete set of hoses was available at the LR dealer for around $80. Is that still the case?

A complete set of hoses at the dealer for $80? LaughOutMotherTruckingLoud!!
If you can get a complete set of cooling system hoses for your truck from the dealer then you are a very lucky person.

To ensure the right parts and give you a comparison price look at the Rovers North site as a starting point, then look atAtlantic British, then look at RovahFarm, then look at RockAuto.

The problems with dealing with someone other than a LandRover speciality shop like the ones I mentioned are primarily, the others often do not have all the correct information in theiir systems and you have a bigger chance of getting the wrong part.
Also, if you just go by price, you have a bigger chance of getting an inferior quality hose. You may spend less initially, but is it worth it if they do not hold up?

Notice Spike used the cheap ones to prepare a vehicle that he was getting rid of, not his problem if they do not hold up, are you planning on keeping yours? I would not want the cheapest hoses available on mine, especially that bottom hose monstrosity.

Some food for thought. Buying the Cheapest may not be the cheapest in the long run.

Thanks, Danny. I blew the top hose and wanted to replace them all. Hopefully I didn't blow a head gasket. Do I need the ones going to the tank as well? By the way, what coolant do you run?
