Range Rover under dash squeal at start-up
Hello all:
I have a 2006 Range Rover Supercharged. At start-up, a distinctive squeal occurs two or three times. The sound is coming from somewhere low under the dash / hvac area and it seems to be associated with the hvac system. Can anyone define what may be causing the sound and if it an issue of concern? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Thanks, Mike. The sound is coming directly from under the glove compartment in the firewall area and is definitely a "servo" style motor, perhaps something that operates a flap or closure that redeirects air under different hvac control settings. I live in Montrose, Colorado, and this sound started to occur when the temperature started to drop. Also, do you know why a series of noises in the dash, almost like the car is "waking up", begin to occur as soon as the driver's side door is openned. I think it is pertinent to explain that I am a new owner of the 06' RRSC (4 months), and am still learning about the vehicle. My DVD remote was not working when the RR was purchased, so I boughta new one. It does not work either, although the system is operable from the dash controls. Does a new remote require a programming process to get it to communicate with the existing dvd player? As a huge Stanley Kubrick fan, I have named my truck HAL, after the computer in 2001: ASpace Odyssey. The RR is the most amazingutility vehicle I have ever owned, not to mention extremely attractive, but I can' help but think it's going to take over my life and sanity...
There are two fans that can cause such a noise specific to the 2003-up Range Rover. One is located inside the E-Box, and the other is within the HVAC control panel. The E-Box fan can sound like it is coming from the vents and/or dash and both occur upon vehicle "wake up".
