Default rotors and pads 03 Disco

Where can I get some great upgraded rotors and pads for my 03 Discovery? It has 43k, and brakes have occassionally squeaked since 27k. Just had 45k service and since returning from dealer 2 days ago, rear psgr brake is grinding. Do not want to spend the money at dealer in Chattanooga, TN only to have to replace everything again in 30k miles. Any thoughts?

When you say up graded are you wanting to go to a slotted and drilled rotor like the DBA's or just some better then factory?

I recommend you call Zeckhausen Brakes at 973-761-5054 or go to their website. Very helpful and knowledgeable. I just ordered my set earlier this week.

I would tend to stay with pads and rotors that are made specifically for Rovers and have been tested and backed by a number of Rover retail outlets.
Rovers have enough problems with their brakes, lat thing you want to do is toss on a set of pads and rotors that are not matched up to our crazy ABS sensors.

Mike, any problems with the Atlantic British lockheed pads & rotors? The whole kit for an '03 D2 was only 3 bills so I grabbed it (along with a set of Bosch plugs and some other stuff). I figure Atlantic British sells a ton of Rover parts so I'm hoping their stuff is OK?

Was planning to install later this week (51k miles -- it's time). I don't want totrash my ABS [:@]

Thanks.

Should be fine, make sure to use lots of sound deadening spray on the back side of the pads to make sure you don't squeak, also flush the brakes while doing your barkes, this will give you a better brake pedal.
Have you changed out your plug wires yet, if not you might want to order some Magnacor wires so you can get some real performance back into your engine.

Thanks Mike. I plan to do the brakes tomorrow. I'll pick up some of the red goo no squeak. I will be replacing the brake fluid, but not this go-round (I'm new to rovers so I want to keep each variable independent of others untill I have more rover diagnostic time under my belt).

Same with the wires (I saw your post in another thread and have already bookmarked a set of magnacores over at Rover Connection -- you think the 8mm would be any trouble to squeeze into the stock looms or should I stick with the 7mm?). First I'll do the plugs, make sure all is well and I didn't dislodge some obscure hose or wire, then the ignition wires in another session. Not looking forward to pulling the manifold. I guess no big deal, but pull a manifold to replace ignition wires!? Although I do remember an american model from a while back (think it was a Vega or something -- too long ago) where a lowerengine mount had to be removed to replace the plugs. 10 pounds of engine in a 5 pound sack. lol.

Thanks again.

Best regards,

-Keith
