hey nick u dont have to use oem but i would not get anything to cheap.when it comes to brakes and rotors i have found u usually get what u pay for.Atlantic british has reasonable prices on ebc pads and rotors those are what i prefer on my discos and my customers.also depending on milage u prob need to flush the fluid

Is the brake fluid flush an easy job?, rave says you have to use the dealer laptop

Not anymore difficult than any other car. The reason it say that in the RAVE is because the computer is used to activate the ABS modulator. That moves all (or at least more) of the old fluid out. As long as you haven't had the modulator apart, i think most people just bleed the brakes using normal procedures. I really don't know how much old fluid is left in the system if you do it that way though.

You can either not worry about it and bleed as normal, take it to Land Rover and pay, find someone with a Hawkeye Diagnostic Tool, or try this procedure as found on the Land Rover Club V.I. ABS repair:

"49. Go for a test drive and try to get the ABS and TC to kick on. Find a good incline to test HDC or on a flat ground, accelerate and let off the pedal and HDC should kick in, slowing you down. You must actuate these functions in order to get the trapped air out during the final bleed.

50. Re- bleed the brakes. It is very important to do this last step after you successfully activate TC/HDC/ABS so that the trapped air in the modulator is expelled."

Not sure if you have done this before, but if not try to get as much old fluid out of the reservoir as you can before you start.
