SAI pump not working: Electrical?
I have a 2002 Lanrd Rover Discovery II. I've had it for 4 years. Had 84,000 miles when i got it and has 112,000 now. I have done alot of repairs and things over the years to maintain it, but since i bought it the SAI pump had not worked. Here is what i have done for SAI:
1. check all fuses (didnt know which one was for pump but all are good, under hood and dash)
2. Replaced pump: Used pump from junk yard but when i got it i cut an extra set of wires, and very quickly touched battery and pump works.
3. replaced solenoid that opens the valve for exhaust.
and still nothing. The exhaust opens in the morning and i can hear it sounding like an exhaust leak sound because the exhaust pumps backwards out the SAI pump hose. but the pump will not turn on.
Not sure what else to check. i'v dealt with the check SES light for years and cant stand it any more lol. My only thoughts are either an electrical problem in the wire, or what ever controls the SAI pump. I have followed the wire back but very close to SAI pump the wires go into the harness and you cant see or follow them any further. Without just replacing parts, what else can i check and hot can i check it? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
A little History on Landy: She has a salvage title, but i cant see any major damages or repairs, and i have had no other electrical issues, and no "Weird" issues. She's Vienna Green with a two tone factory custom interior. Shes in great shape and a classy lady. Just need to redo head liner and inter is immaculate. All repairs ever need were pretty straight forward and all just due to age/normal wear and tear. Ive rebuilt the break resivor, done breaks and rotors, new plugs/air filter, changed trans fluid, replaced throttle body due to the heating part leaking coolant, replaced radiator thermostat and hoses, changed a squeekie belt roller and probably some other stuff. Im just noticing the valve covers starting to leak, and have all the parts except waiting for the oil separator for valve cover. hopefully will be doing this this weekend (dreading removing the SAI hoses from head: gonna start spraying with break loose a few days before lol) ill also put new wires on at same time, and clean everything while i have top open. I also just got the Three Amigo pop up. I think im going to change the shuttle valve and see if this helps. I can buy the valve for less then they will charge to read codes, so i figured i would just get the valve and see what happens unless anyone has suggestions. the ABS Modular is not leaking and everything looks good so i figure its got to be Shuttle valve or wheel sensors.
other then that, the only other problem is i have tried to have the key programmed 2 times and both times the vehicle seems not to recognize the key. but i have a suspension its the fob not the car. or maybe its the guys i found from craigslist that tried, but i need a second remote key anyway so ill be getting another key fob and try again lol.
Landy has been my wifes daily driver for 4 years and our weekend fun car as well. Wife just got a 2016 rubicon last week and now i have the green light to play with landy. I plan on putting a 2" terrafirma shock/spring lift, new terrafirma shock towers, Terrafirma track rod/drag link/panhard arm/dampener shock/upper-lower ball joists, steel front winch bumper and back steel bumpers, rock sliders with tree bars and then some nice rubber on the wheels. Cost about $3300 for parts thru British Alantic. now that Landy is going to become strictly for fun and i have green light to modify, i would like to get everything repaired i listed above. I was thinking 2" lift because i read anything over 2" causes geometry problems and added stress on other parts.
Sorry to ramble on, but my main problem im stuck with is the stupid SAI. i wish it was legal to just eliminate this system, but since i cant i want to get it working so dash is light free. Thanks for reading

SOLVED!!! After almost 5 years of dealing with this problem i solved it. After changing every part of the sai system. (Many times) and still sai pump would not come on. I was convinced it was defective ECU. All other parts would work. Valves wold open and Exhaust would be loud, all worked exceot pump. Kept getting P1414 and P1417.
today i got the guts to dig into the wire harness and i tried to trace the two wires back to fuse box. I lost the black wire, but was able to follow yellow wire. I thought "well made it half way, lets test this. The yellow wire goes under fuse box and comes out on the corder closest to radiator and is connected inside the fuse box on the top side. While jumping the relay i found that the power worked to this point. While jumping relay, tested the yellow wire at the pump plug.. Dead.. BINGO! I disconnected the yellow wire from the fuse box side ran a new wire from the fuse box, then cut the yellow wire comming out of plud and connected the new wire i ran. Jumed relay and pump came on. First time since i owned it. I can finally pass smog legaly!
Update:
Valve cover gaskets - done
2" suspension lift - done (terrafirma)
new uppe and lower ball joints - done (what a PITA)
trak rod, drag link - done (terrafirma)
265/75R16 over sized tires - installed
Upgrade to 2004 CDL and SLABS unit - Done
new ignition lock and door cylinder - Done
Ordered today: Steel front bumper with winch mount, steel back bumper, steel rock sliders with tree bar. once i pay these parts off i will get the winch and some nice off road lights. She's comming along.
We did doubble black diamond Big Bear trails in the Rain. Landy was showing the jeepers how its done.
