I think once you have it sorted out you'll fall in love. It's a drivers vehicle and a Rover. Good snag as far as I'm concerned and even better you snagged it for less.......

A few P38 questions for you guys

Do Disco springs fit?

Any one have preferred BCM sync tools they've used? Black Box Solutions? Rsw solutions? Is it worth getting the scanner that performs the diag and communication with the Rover BCM? That thing is expensive. Just want to be sure it's worth it.

Does anyone know where I can get the headlights with the black on the inside? Sort of like the early D2 lights? I really like that look.

16s vs 18s...I can go to 16s pretty cheap or is running like a 275-70 18 worth it?

Ask Jafir about the Nanocom, believe he owns one. The Faultmate's are great, long lasting comprehensive diag tool for any Rover newer than RRC and D1's. I've heard nothing but good things about em. As far as tires I wouldn't until you get better acquainted with the hardware. I read allot and in my November 2015 copy of Peterson's 4Wheel and Off-Road there was 99 P38 selected for the Ultimate Adventure 2015 with 315's and upgraded axles......guess what, it busted an axle (I'm not all that surprised). I'd enjoy it for what it is.... not go too far for awhile....... just enjoy it. Lucky8 obviously with their build has learned allot, they're our only real source. I have never heard of black outs on a P38 like the early DII's, what do I know. I also don't think Disco springs would work *decently* since they're handed and balanced for weight distribution. Your still bagged right? Arnott (arnottdoug) is a sponsor here, give him a shout once you find out what's ailing on the EAS.

Man, you got a good deal, I can feel it in me bones....... I'd be interested in a comparison just for shiites and grins to see how different or similar they are. Sunni or later I'll be in a P38 myself...... Up to you to lead the way!

Got the truck home. Considering it's problems it drove quite well. Damn it's smooth. I've cleaned it up and done some initial work. It's got multiple codes. And a battery drain issue. Multiple minor electrical gremlins. Windows not set etc.

Do these suffer the same temp gauge inaccuracies as the Discovery? I guess I'm hoping not to have to buy another ultra gauge. Maybe the BMW people got it right.

I had a P38 that had OME springs on it. They used a combo of D1 and D2 springs, can't remember exactly. But the difference is the sides were switched. Meaning the OME code said driver front, but was installed on passenger front. I believe that is because the diffs are on opposite sides.

The headlight you have should be blackout style, the Bosch motor P38s have black painted outer reflector and the earlier are all silver.

Nice rover!

Edit- you say it's a 98, but the tail lights say 99. Is it Bosch or GEMS? If it's a 4.6, Bosch or GEMS the block is the best quality LR made based on their grading system, thicker cylinder walls.

It's a 4.0 GEMS. I believe someone swapped the head and tailights with the later ones. It's also got clear side maker lights on the fenders and clear corner lights. It got into a fender bender. Some one replaced the head light and corner turnsignal light with the early type. Looks like crap. I found the later model headlight in the junk yard and ordered a clear corner turn signal light on ebay. I'm on the hunt for a bumper. They mangled the factory brush gaurd. A real shame. I love how these trucks look with that.

The rest of the paint and body is in great shape. No peeling. No dents.
