I need some advice just so I have some knowlege before going to shop. Every now and the when I start my rr (2005) nothing happens and for lack of a better way to describe it I hear a clunk. It has happened to both my wife and I with both keys. Upon returning it to off position then restarting it starts fine. I do not know if there is a dead spot in the starter, an ignition problem, or an issue with our keys. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

 

May have a starter with a flat spot causing it to clunk instead of spinning the bendix.
