Default front drive shaft only?

Everything I read tells me that I probably need a new front drive shaft. I got stuck in a foot of ice and snow, so I put it into low range. I then heard something that sounded like a hammer hitting a sheet of metal followed by a mechanical spinning sound, and it was obvious that I lost power in the front. Once the truck was free and I switched back, and all I heard was the metalic spinning sound and I had no power front or rear. So I put it back in low range and got it off the street. If I make a sharp turn in low I hear metal grinding. I am hoping that there is no transmission damage or damage to the transfer case?
So I am looking for advice and a good mechanic on Staten Island for an 04 Discovery.

No, I am not sure of the problem. I was told to hope it is only the differential lock switch. The truck has about 71,000 miles.
